Opposite Day Host Swap
SPEAKER_00Hey guys, welcome back to In the Middle of It. I'm your host, Jason Early. You might think, where's Hannah this week? Well, she's right here.
SPEAKER_01I'm right here.
SPEAKER_00She is in the hot seat this week. We have flipped the script on her a little bit.
SPEAKER_01It's opposite day.
SPEAKER_00It's opposite day, that's right. I'm even in your chair.
SPEAKER_01You're in my chair. I've never sat on this side of the podcast, and I feel very weird.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I honestly feel a little nervous. Even though we're just playing games today.
SPEAKER_00We're not even doing we're just playing games.
How The Game Works
SPEAKER_00And to tell you a little bit about this game, you know, on this podcast, you might not know.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00But typically we started off with a little game called Love It, Hate It in the Middle of It.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Where I ask you if I'm a kind of a cumbersome name, honestly.
SPEAKER_00So on this podcast, on this podcast, as you might not know, we usually start off with a little game called Love It, Hate It in the Middle of It.
SPEAKER_01Wow.
SPEAKER_00So I'm going to list a few items, a few things in your life, my life, just life in general.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00That you might love, you might hate, or you might feel in the middle of or neutral about. Oh. Just tell me what you think about that.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I'm
The Beloved Navy Blue Jetta
SPEAKER_01ready.
SPEAKER_00To start off, navy blue Volkswagen Jettas.
SPEAKER_01Navy blue. Wow. Very specific. Um, love it. I had a navy blue Volkswagen Jetta. I did. Um, his name was Jeffrey. I miss him every day. I think about that car. It was my first car. I got it when I was a senior in high school, maybe a junior in high school, and um I drove that thing to the ground. And I think we got like $800 for it at the end. Like it was he was on his last leg.
SPEAKER_00He did his best work for me.
SPEAKER_01He did his best work for me. So many great memories. I learned to drive in Jeffree.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And he lasted until 2021, I guess, or 22.
SPEAKER_0022.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And then we got a navy blue RAV 4. So we kept it in the navy blue. But we did we did switch cars. And you know what? I do love our RAV 4, but I miss our Jetta.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Jeffrey. What shout out to Jeffrey. You know, actually a couple weeks ago, remember we were driving and I saw Jeffree. Like, I was like, I wonder if that's Jeffrey. I don't think Jeffrey's.
SPEAKER_00It was his twin at least.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't think Jeffree's made it to 2026. But who could be sure? I mean, maybe maybe.
SPEAKER_00All right, number two, reality
Reality TV And Survival Show Obsession
SPEAKER_00TV.
SPEAKER_01Love it. Yeah. I wish I loved it less. I honestly think since we've been parents, we've had a little less time to enjoy reality TV. But what have we been watching recently? Alone. We've been watching Alone.
SPEAKER_00Love Alone.
SPEAKER_01Alone is very good. It's a survival show. Um, I mean, listen, I have had my stints of loving reality TV that you always think of like, you know, The Bachelor and you know, all of those things. I have at times in my life I have enjoyed those. I feel like I'm over that season of my life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it's it's behind me. I'm not interested in those shows anymore, but now I'm into survival shows.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think because I know that, you know, if if I needed to, I could protect Owen in the wilderness.
SPEAKER_00I think you could too.
SPEAKER_01No, I actually couldn't. I actually feel confident that I I would be like, God, just it's my time. Just take me. Just I can't do it.
SPEAKER_00Man, I would love to go on that show. I know you. I wish I had the skills. I wish I could just put the time in to learn those skills. Yeah. But those people have spent a lifetime building those skills. That's they like that. You can't just go out and do it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they live in the wilderness as it is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I think I wouldn't even last a single night, honestly. But I enjoy watching other people who are good at it.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you've never been camping, so you don't know if you'd last a night.
SPEAKER_01I've never been camping.
SPEAKER_00You might last one night.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Well, you know, based on the amount that I dislike bugs, I just don't know.
SPEAKER_00I almost put bugs on this list.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I bet you did.
The Brutal Truth Of Diapers
SPEAKER_00All right. Number three, changing diapers.
SPEAKER_01Oh, hate it.
SPEAKER_00Hate it? Really?
SPEAKER_01I really hate it. It wasn't so bad at the beginning, but now it just it's getting worse. It's getting worse.
SPEAKER_00I will say though, the frequency has gone down.
SPEAKER_01The frequency has gone down. At first, you're going through like, I don't know, 12, 15 diapers a day, but they're so tiny and the baby's so tiny, and you know, but now it's like really it's taken a turn as he's gotten older. He's so wiggly. Like just holding him down to change the diaper is like half the battle, and it's horrible. And he's so strong. Like baby strength, man, I really underestimated how strong he would be.
SPEAKER_00Yep.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, it's it's terrible. I will say that you have changed a lot, probably more diapers than I have in recent days. I don't know. Anytime it's it's uh I just try to keep it pretty equal.
SPEAKER_00So I feel like I'm just trying to keep up with you, but maybe I'm ahead of the game. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Maybe so. I mean, anytime it's not it's not just number one, I'm handing that off to Owen's dad. So yeah. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, enough about poopy diapers. All right,
Butterflies And A Childhood Phobia
SPEAKER_00number four, butterflies.
SPEAKER_01Okay, this is a layered question for me, Jason, and I know you know that. I have a checkered history with butterflies. I'm gonna say in the middle of it.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01If you had caught me maybe four years ago, I would say hate it. Um, when I was in fourth grade, this is for the listeners because Jason already knows this story. When I was in fourth grade, my school took a field trip to the butterfly conservatory in Ontario, Canada. And we made the trip and I was so excited. I thought I loved butterflies. What they don't tell you is when you go to the butterfly conservatory, um, there's a possibility of butterflies landing on you. Okay. I don't know what it was about me specifically, but I was like a butterfly magnet to the point where I was feeling swarmed. Like a butterfly landed directly on my nose, and I'll never forget just looking into the eyes of that butterfly and not realizing how creepy they looked up close. But also just like they were big and it just felt like I don't know. It just it really sent me into a tailspin to where I was afraid of butterflies for most of my childhood and into my adult life.
SPEAKER_00Borderline phobia, maybe?
SPEAKER_01Borderline phobia, like, yeah, I really hated butterflies, which I know is silly, but it was just this one like traumatic experience that I had. Okay, not to continue on the story, but I will say a couple of years ago I had this experience with the Lord where I was outside, I was leaning against a tree, and I was just listening to him and just trying to see like what God was gonna speak to me in that moment. And sure enough, a bunch of butterflies landed like maybe five or ten feet away from me, and my first response was to feel afraid. I know it sounds silly, you guys, but this is actually real. Um, and you know what? I felt like in that moment God spoke to me and said something along the lines of there are a lot of things to fear, and that's not one of them. Like, this is something that me and you are gonna conquer together. You do not need to fear what is not scary.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And you know what? Ever since then I felt a little different toward butterflies.
SPEAKER_00I feel like I've noticed a difference.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I feel like I was like, yeah, Lord, like that is something that is silly, and I just need to get over it. So we're on our way to loving butterflies.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We're not quite there yet.
SPEAKER_00We're currently in the middle of it.
SPEAKER_01I'm in the middle of it.
SPEAKER_00All right. Last one. I know the answer to this, but it'd be fun to hear your
Why Motherhood Feels Like Calling
SPEAKER_00thoughts. Motherhood.
SPEAKER_01Motherhood, love it. Yeah, yeah. I mean, are there hard moments? Absolutely, yes. Um, but I love it more than I've ever loved anything I've ever done. Like, I love being a Christian artist. I love touring. I love getting to meet people. I love, you know, all the all the things that I've been able to do. But being a mom is the best thing that has ever happened to me. Yeah. It's it's a joy like I've never known. It's um a love like I've never known. I feel so purposeful, I feel so um confident in just like who I'm meant to be. Um so yeah, I love it.
SPEAKER_00You were meant to be Owen's mom. That is, yeah, it's crazy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I heard um actually Hilary Scott from Lady A, I heard her speak at something a couple years ago, and one of the girls in the thing that I was at asked her a question and was like, you know, I'm I'm pregnant and I'm really worried that this baby is gonna suffer because of my career. Like I have to travel, I have to do all these things. And Hillary looked at her and she said, You were made to be that baby girl's mom. And God chose you to be her mom and chose that baby to be your daughter. And so that baby is exactly who they're supposed to be for you to be exactly who you're supposed to be. And I've I wasn't pregnant or we weren't even thinking about having kids quite yet at that time. And I just remember holding on to that and tucking it away for a time like we're in now where we have Owen, and sometimes I feel bad that you know I gotta still work, and a lot of my friends are stay-at-home moms, and I'm still working a lot of days, and you know, but then I remember like, no, God chose me to be Owen's mom, chose Owen to be my son, and he's part of what we do, he's he's part of our ministry now, and I hope he grows up to love that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Well, you are an excellent mother. Thank you. It is amazing to watch you be a mom. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01You're such a kind host. Wow, it's like everyone on the podcast must feel so loved.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, thank you for saying that. Well, thank you for being on the podcast today. Yeah, you're welcome.
The Middle Moment Wheel Spin
SPEAKER_00Usually what we like to do is we end the podcast with what we call the middle moment. I know it's at the end, but we still call it the middle moment.
SPEAKER_01I do say that every time, don't I? It's over here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, you have it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01So explain to me what I'm looking at here.
SPEAKER_00So, Hannah, what you're looking at here is a wheel of several different topics, uh-huh, different um items. You're gonna spin this wheel, it's gonna land on one.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And you're gonna talk about what that what that is.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Sounds good. So go for it. Let's
Hidden Talent And Bible Book Speedrun
SPEAKER_01spin it. I've always wanted to do this. This is fun. Okay. It's on hidden talent.
SPEAKER_00Hidden talent? Okay. No one has ever gotten that happen. No well It's actually on Oatmeal Fact, unless it moved.
SPEAKER_01I think it might have moved. I guess I can say both.
SPEAKER_00Go for it.
SPEAKER_01Um, okay, hidden talent. You know what's funny is I created these questions, and I don't know the answer to my own questions. Um So I gotta think about that. What's my hidden talent? Okay, I guess I would say I can say all of the books of the Bible in order. Um I can't fun one. Yeah. Should I do it? Backwards. No, I can't say it backwards. I also can say all the United States in alphabetical order. Um, yeah, I can do both of those things.
SPEAKER_00Well, let's hear it.
SPEAKER_01All right, Genesis, Ex Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua Judges, Ruth, first and second Samuel, first and second kings, and first and second chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus, Philemon, Hebrews, James, Peter, John, Jude, Revelation.
SPEAKER_00Incredible.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. It's a song. It's a song. Um, yeah, and then you can just trust me about the states. I'm not gonna say if you know the song, though, is I love Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut. You know. Anyways, I won't bore you with the whole thing. I guess I would say that's my hidden talent. Like, do I have any other hidden talents?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. They're hidden, you know? How would I know?
SPEAKER_01You would know, I feel like. I don't know. Okay, and then oatmeal fact.
Oatmeal Facts And Food Allergies
SPEAKER_01This is to explain. I don't know if anyone's gotten this. Maybe one person. Um, an oatmeal fact is a boring but important fact about you. And I would say that I'm allergic to avocados, is my oatmeal fact.
SPEAKER_00That is, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Every restaurant I go to, every show that I play, I have to tell the waiter or whoever's preparing the food for me that I am allergic to avocados. And how do I know this? Because through much trial and error, I would get so sick every time I ate avocados, every single time.
SPEAKER_00For the longest time, you thought it was just Mexican food.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought it maybe it was like a spice or something that I was eating. But then I had a sandwich at a coffee shop with an avocado on it, and I had the same issue, same reaction, and sure enough, I'm allergic to avocado. Also, a fun fact, or oatmeal fact, I'm allergic to latex. And apparently, latex and avocados are the same protein, the same allergen, um, makes you allergic to both. And my brother Josh is also allergic. So I don't know, I don't know what that's about, but that's just my oatmeal fact.
SPEAKER_00Awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
Final Thanks And Sign Off
SPEAKER_00Well, Hannah, thank you for being here today on this middle mini episode. Everyone, thanks for listening. Thanks for watching, and we will see you next time.
SPEAKER_01Wow, great job.
